Alley Cat Allies’ Rapid Response Team is on standby as Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, ready to provide medical care, emergency supplies and boarding for cats. The organization urges residents in evacuation zones to bring indoor cats and other pets with them and offers guidance on safe evacuation and protecting community cat colonies.

After a powerful nor’easter struck the Jersey shore in late September, the team rescued three 6-week-old kittens that appeared at a colony following flooding. The kittens are receiving care through a disaster relief grant at the Humane Society of Atlantic County and are being treated for upper respiratory issues; three will need more intensive eye infection treatment.

The team also treated a 21-pound cat named Charlie, who may have entropion. Charlie is receiving medication for comfort and is scheduled for entropion surgery next week.

Another success story is Journey, a 4-year-old cat who survived pneumonia and now thrives with her adoptive family, often seen snuggling with her brother Loki.

In Puerto Rico, the San Juan Protection Team supplies community cats with TNR, medical care, food and water, helping cats like DF, an eight-year-old who loves Churu treats, continue living outdoors.

Alley Cat Allies has led the movement to protect all cats since 1990 and currently has over 1.8 million supporters.
