Petfinnly connects you with breeders, shelters, and rescues, but every sale and adoption happens directly between you and them. These are the basics worth following before you pay anything or take an animal home.

Before you pay or commit

• Meet in person and see the animal before paying anything, or insist on a live video call at minimum when meeting in person genuinely isn't possible.
• Ask to see vet and vaccination records, and consider a vet check-up of your own soon after.
• For a purebred kitten, ask about the parents and registration paperwork.
• Trust your instincts, it's fine to walk away when something feels rushed or off.

Red flags to watch for

• A seller who refuses any video call or in-person meeting
• Pressure to pay quickly, especially by wire transfer, gift cards, or other untraceable methods
• A price that's unusually low for the breed, with no clear explanation
• Reluctance to answer questions about the animal's health or history

Adopting from a shelter or rescue

Legitimate shelters and rescues almost always have some kind of adoption process, an application, a screening step, sometimes a home visit, rather than just accepting payment. That process exists to make sure it's a good match, not to make things difficult.
