This Privacy Policy explains what information Petfinnly ("we") collects when you use petfinnly.com (the "Site"), and how we use it.
When you create an account: your email address, name, password (stored as an irreversible hash, never in plain text), and role (buyer, breeder, or shelter/rescue).
If you're a breeder or shelter: whatever profile details you choose to add, such as your cattery/organization name, bio, location, and registry.
If you post a listing: the listing details and any photos you upload.
If you message another user: the content of that message, stored so both sides of the conversation can see it.
Automatically: basic technical data like IP address and browser type, needed to operate the Site securely, plus anonymized traffic analytics — but only after you accept our cookie-consent banner (see Cookies & analytics below).
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in (a random session token — we never store your actual password in it). This cookie is required for the Site to work and isn't optional.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic to the Site, but it never loads — not even to set a cookie — until you explicitly accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can decline, and nothing is loaded or tracked.
A few third-party services help run the Site, and each only sees what's necessary for its purpose:
To operate your account and the marketplace itself; to let you message other users about a listing; to respond if you contact us for support; and, only with your consent, to understand aggregate traffic to the Site so we can improve it.
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only: with the third-party service providers listed above, as needed for them to do their job; with another user you choose to message; or if required to by law.
We keep your account and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, email petfinnly@gmail.com and we'll take care of it, subject to anything we're legally required to retain.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time by emailing petfinnly@gmail.com.
The Site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), the Site is served over HTTPS, and session tokens are hashed at rest in our database. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
