Alley Cat Allies Raises Reward to $20,000 for Trooper’s Shooter

Alley Cat Allies has increased its reward to a record $20,000 for anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people who shot Trooper the cat with an orange-tipped blowgun dart. The cruelty that caused Trooper’s death was discovered on June 26 when she was found with a dart in her side in a shopping-center parking lot near a golf-car shop in Conover. After rescue and emergency care covered by Alley Cat Allies, Trooper underwent surgery to remove the dart but the damage was too severe and she passed away peacefully while receiving veterinary care.
The organization is working with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation and is urging anyone with tips to contact the sheriff’s office at 828-466-5112 or email [email protected]. Alley Cat Allies will also launch a public awareness campaign, including targeted advertising, to rally community support for justice for Trooper and encourage more information to come forward.
Alley Cat Allies, founded in 1990, has over 1.8 million supporters and focuses on protecting cats through advocacy, education, and law-and-policy work. The organization researches the link between animal cruelty and broader social issues such as child abuse, domestic violence, and community health.
The reward terms and conditions are available at alleycat.org/RewardTerms.
