The Country Cattery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue based in Randolph, Alabama, dedicated to rescuing and safeguarding the lives of as many felines as possible while maintaining a high standard of care. The rescue runs several ongoing programs, including the Pawsitive Impact Project (PIP), Purrs for Seniors, and a Fund a Fix spay/neuter fundraising effort. Cats and kittens available for adoption are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated before going to their new homes, and every adoption comes with a 10-day health and behavior guarantee. The Country Cattery also frequently has barn cats available, which are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and skilled mousers suited to life in barns, shops, or warehouses, for a $50 adoption fee (with a discount for adopting more than one). Kittens are only spayed or neutered once they reach at least 5 months of age and 4 pounds. The rescue does not routinely test kittens under 6 months for FIV/FeLV, since maternal antibodies can produce unreliable results, but it does prioritize testing for cats over 6 months, those with bite or fight wounds, pregnant or nursing cats, and cats rescued from hoarding, neglect, or cruelty. Adopters must be 21 or older.
