Lake Martin Animal Advocacy

Lake Martin Animal Advocacy, also known online as Lake Martin Animal Rescue, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foster-based animal rescue serving the Lake Martin area of Alabama, including Elmore, Tallapoosa, Coosa, Autauga, Lee, and Talladega counties. Founder Jennie Zinn started the organization after fostering and finding homes for a couple of animals herself and deciding to make it her ongoing mission; the group received its 501(c)(3) status in January 2017 and has since rescued and rehabilitated more than 500 abused and neglected animals for foster placement and adoption. Beyond adoption, the organization offers several community services: low-cost spay and neuter assistance for families on fixed incomes, working with Castaway Animal Clinic and sometimes providing transportation to appointments; trap-neuter-return (TNR) for stray cat colonies when funds allow; and disaster relief support, helping cover veterinary costs for animals affected by events like house fires or tornadoes. The organization operates without state or federal funding, relying entirely on donations, volunteers, and its partner veterinary clinic. It also helps reunite lost pets with their owners and provides resources for people trying to keep their animals at home.
