Poor Guys Cat Rescue began in 2014 as a one-person effort to save abused barn cats. The founder moved the cats to a purpose-built shelter on private land and established a nonprofit. Within two and a half years, the rescue had taken in 90 cats, including 40 from the barn and others from shelters or stray and orphaned populations.
