Port City Hope Animal Rescue Inc

Port City Hope Animal Rescue, operating online as Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has been helping homeless pets in Mobile, Alabama since 1995. Rather than running its own shelter, ARF focuses on supporting and enhancing the lives of animals at the City of Mobile Animal Shelter, Mobile County Animal Shelter, and surrounding communities, funding medical care, heartworm treatment, and surgeries for animals with specialized health needs. Its work includes providing enrichment and support to animals at municipal shelters, helping shelter pets find homes through adoption events and sponsorships, offering free microchip clinics, and running programs that help keep pets in their homes through training, education, and food or supply assistance. ARF also supports volunteer and foster programs in the area. The organization was founded and incorporated in December 1995 by a small group of local animal welfare advocates, including Madeline Busby, Nancy Gipson, Betsy Hass, Mona Pate, Dianne Robers, Doug James, and Brad Berg, with a founding purpose of promoting animal rights, supporting spay and neuter efforts, rescuing abandoned animals, and providing education. ARF continues that mission today through outreach, education, and direct support to Mobile-area shelters.
