Animals and Humans in Disaster, Inc. is a Phoenix, Arizona nonprofit (it adopted this name in 2018) focused on disaster preparedness and pet food assistance rather than traditional shelter adoptions. Through its Empty Bowl Pet Food Pantry program, the organization runs mobile pet food distribution across Maricopa County to help people keep their pets fed during hard times, and it partners with the 211 Arizona helpline to connect people with pet and human assistance resources countywide. The organization also operates P.A.T.C.H.E.S. (Protecting Animals Through Community Housing, Education & Support), a facility that provides overflow shelter resources in Maricopa County, and participates in FEMA and Arizona Department of Health Services emergency response efforts as a Medical Reserve Corps partner. The group is a member of the Governor's Arizona Citizen Corps Council. Anyone needing pet food assistance can call the organization's main office or text its dedicated line for current availability.
