Cochise County Humane Society Inc

Cochise County Humane Society (CCHS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit run entirely by volunteers, serving the cats and dogs of Cochise County, Arizona since 1986. Rather than operating a shelter, CCHS is focused on reducing pet overpopulation by providing financial assistance for low-cost spay and neuter surgery to elderly residents, low-income families, and military veterans in the county. The organization also runs a feral cat trap-neuter-return program and a foster program for cats and dogs. Ninety-five percent of every donation CCHS receives goes directly to the care and welfare of animals in Cochise County, with the rest of its funding coming from grants, including support through the Arizona Pet Plate program. CCHS partners with Dr. Jackson and the Humane Society of Southern Arizona for surgeries. Dogs typically must be at least 16 weeks old before being spayed or neutered, while the recommended age for kittens varies; pets do not stay overnight, with surgery drop-offs typically scheduled between 7 and 9 a.m.
