Phoenix, AZ
One of the two county shelters run by Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, on 27th Avenue south of Durango in Phoenix. As an open-intake county facility it takes in cats and dogs from across the West Valley. Every adoption includes spay/neuter, a microchip and age-appropriate vaccines.
Call 602-506-7387 for current adoption fees.
All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip and age-appropriate vaccines.
Visit during adoption hours to meet available cats. Both county care centers share the same phone line and hours.
Estimated by applying the AVMA's 2024 national cat-ownership rate (32.1% of households) to the county's real household count from the Census Bureau — a national rate applied locally, not a local survey. Population and housing figures are from the Census Bureau's American Community Survey.
Adoptions run daily 11am to 7pm. Intake and other services run daily 12pm to 6pm, and the call center is open 8am to 5pm.
Same county department, different building. Maricopa County Animal Care and Control runs two care centers: this West Valley one in Phoenix and an East Valley one in Mesa. They share a phone number and hours but hold different animals.
Every adoption includes spay/neuter, a microchip and age-appropriate vaccines.
Intake and owner surrender services run daily 12pm-6pm. Call 602-506-7387 first.
