Saving Animals From Euthanasia

Saving Animals from Euthanasia (SAFE) is a Tucson, Arizona nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs who have faced neglect, abandonment, or hardship, particularly those at risk of euthanasia in kill-type shelters. Since it began, SAFE has rescued more than 920 dogs and holds adoption events roughly twice a month. To adopt, prospective families complete an application, and SAFE coordinates a meet-and-greet either at an adoption event or another scheduled time; if all goes well, adopters complete the paperwork and take their new dog home. If a particular dog doesn't turn out to be the right match, SAFE will work with the family to consider other available pets. The adoption fee is $150, which covers spay or neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, and a microchip. SAFE also relies on foster families to help care for dogs before they're adopted, and welcomes volunteers and donations to support its work.
