Dona Spring Animal Shelter is the City of Berkeley's municipal animal shelter, named for the late city councilmember Dona Spring, taking in strays and owner-surrendered cats and dogs from the city.
$100 for cats, includes spay/neuter, microchip and vaccines. 60/6/60 program: 60% off for adopters 60+ adopting a pet 6 years or older.
Must be at least 18 years old with government-issued ID.
Visit in person, complete an adopter profile, meet with an adoption counselor, then sign a contract and pay the fee. Same-day adoption is possible if the animal is already spayed/neutered.
