The Black Canyon Animal Sanctuary (BCAS) a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization was founded in 2009 by Debbie and David Faulkner on their 40 ac ranch in Western.
Created in 2011, the Silver Whiskers Program pairs senior clients with senior dogs and cats and covers all pet ownership expenses when financial need dictates.
The shelter closed in August 2018 due to the escalation of co-founder David Faulkner's Alzheimer's disease, with remaining dogs permanently adopted by the founders.
