Requirements

Applicants must complete an application, provide a 10-year veterinary history and two personal references who are not relatives, and allow a home and yard visit. Existing household pets must be spayed or neutered, and renters need landlord approval. Homes with children under six are often not approved for dog adoptions.

How it works

Prospective adopters submit an application, undergo veterinary reference and background checks, participate in a home and yard visit with an adoption coordinator, and meet the animal by appointment before approval.
