Founded in 2018 as The Friends of Fairfield to support the Fairfield County Animal Control shelter, Because of Roscoe is a 100% volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of shelter and community animals. The organization provides community outreach including free spay/neuter services, pet retention and food pantry assistance, and support for Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) alongside rescue networking and advocacy.
Because of Roscoe networks shelter animals and provides a courtesy listing platform via Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet, where adopters apply and communicate directly with the current pet owners.
Because of Roscoe focuses on pet retention and diversion programs to keep pets out of shelters; if keeping a pet is not possible, they connect owners with Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet for direct peer-to-peer rehoming.
