Founded in 2016, Saving Sumter's Strays Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting animals at the local Sumter Animal Control open-intake shelter. The organization manages the shelter's adoption program, coordinates rescue placement, and provides essential medical care, enrichment, and supplies for both dogs and cats awaiting forever homes.
Adopters must pledge to provide quality food, medical care (including heartworm prevention), a secure environment or fenced-in area, patience, love, and agree to return the animal to SSS if unable to keep them.
Interested adopters must complete an online adoption application. Meet-and-greets and adoptions are conducted strictly by appointment only, and same-day adoptions are not offered.
