Established in 2008 in Mitchell, South Dakota, Mitchell Animal Rescue (MAR) is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing lost, stray, and abandoned companion animals. Lacking a physical shelter facility, MAR pulls unclaimed pets from the Mitchell City Pound and places them into foster homes to prevent euthanasia. The organization also supports the community through an income-qualified spay/neuter voucher program (SNIP), a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program for feral cats and barn mousers, and pet re-homing assistance.
