The Blount County Humane Society is a grassroots, citizen-based 501(c)(3) animal protection organization operating in Maryville, Tennessee. Founded by Steve Phipps, BCHS is dedicated to establishing a no-kill community that champions and protects shelter pets by following the No Kill Equation. The volunteer-run group rescues cats and dogs from kill shelters, providing medical care, foster placement, adoptions, and outreach through its All Creatures Thrift Store.
Online or phone application, reference check, and potential home visit.
Browse adoptable animals online, contact BCHS to schedule an in-person meeting, submit an adoption application, complete reference checks and a potential home visit, foster first if needed, and finalize the adoption by paying adoption fees and receiving medical records.
Owners or finders must contact BCHS first to verify space and volunteer capacity; stray and owner surrenders are accepted for a surrender fee, and animals can be reclaimed in a timely manner if not yet rehomed.
