Pookie's Place Cat Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 41-4281706) born from grief, love, and a promise. Sarah founded Pookie's Place in honor of her brother, John "Pookie," and after losing a kitten named Ghost, became determined to help cats no one else would. A lifelong animal lover raised on a ranch, she now leads a foster based rescue serving Central Texas, rescuing, healing, and rehoming cats who have nowhere else to go. The adoption fee is $75, and adopters agree to provide annual vet checkups, keep up with recommended and required vaccinations, and seek veterinary care promptly if their cat is sick or injured. The process starts with a quick application, followed by a conversation about your home and lifestyle, and then a meet and greet.
