Founded in 2000, Richardson Humane Society is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and rehoming homeless pets across the Richardson, Texas area. Operating entirely through a network of volunteer foster homes rather than a physical shelter, they provide medical care, spay/neuter services, and loving placement for both cats and dogs.
$125 for cats (discounts available for senior-aged pets)
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and reside within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. Applicants must share veterinary records for all pets owned in the last five years, and all current pets must be spayed or neutered. Renters must provide verification of pet permission. Applicants must also agree to an interview and a home visit by an RHS representative.
1. Review adoption criteria and submit an online application (or apply at a 'Meet the Pets' event). 2. Complete a phone interview with an adoption counselor. 3. Participate in a home visit where you and your pets can meet the prospective pet. 4. Complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee at an event or off-site location.
While RHS prioritizes pulling animals from municipal shelters, owner surrenders may be considered via an online rehoming form. Acceptance is strictly dependent upon available space within their volunteer foster home network.
