Paws of Promise Sanctuary is a foster-based animal rescue based in Hyde Park, Vermont, dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs and cats who have suffered neglect or abandonment. Operating without a physical facility, they place animals into loving foster homes across Lamoille and Washington counties while providing safe housing and essential veterinary care. Through community education and shelter support, they work to ensure cats, kittens, and barn cats find well-matched, permanent homes.

From $50

Kittens (under 1 year): $250; Young adults (1 to 3 years): $175; Adults (3 to 8 years): $100; Seniors (8 years +): $75; Barn Cat: $50 (10% discount for seniors 60+, veterans, and law enforcement personnel with ID)

Requirements

Adopters must be at least 18 years old, complete an adoption application, and bring a hard carrier to the adoption appointment for cats.

How it works

1. Submit an online adoption application. 2. Application review by volunteers (allow 5–7 days). 3. If approved, an adoption coordinator contacts you to discuss the pet and arrange an appointment. 4. Meet-and-greets are arranged when possible. 5. Finalize the adoption (adopters must bring a hard carrier for cats).

Paws of Promise accepts surrendered pets and notes that individuals who have surrendered a pet in the past are still eligible to adopt once their circumstances have improved, provided standard adoption requirements are met.
