Ellen Vogel, a Certified Feline Master Groomer, celebrates Pet Groomer Appreciation Day by sharing her journey from information technology to running Trilling Cat Inn & Spa in Durham, North Carolina. She lives with four Maine Coon cats-Maggy, Vivo, Turbo, and Rainbow-and has trained several of them as Pet Partners registered therapy pets.

Vogel’s path began after earning a Certificate of Veterinary Hospital Management. She bought a Maine Coon named Arcadia (Cadi) for her 50th birthday, who later became a CFA Grand Premier. Together they formed a registered Pet Partners therapy team. Throughout her career, she learned from the National Cat Groomers Institute and the Fear Free program, applying these skills to groom client cats and reduce veterinary stress.

After Cadi developed lymphoma and passed away in 2022, Vogel’s experience with her cats inspired her to volunteer with the EveryCat Health Foundation. She hopes her work will improve the lives of cats she cares for at Trilling Cat and beyond.
