Sasquatch the Cat Joins the Cole & Marmalade Family

The Cole and Marmalade family moved into a new home in November 2021 and soon discovered a local cat community. Over time, they welcomed a fluffy tabby named Squatch and his companion Gerald into their yard.

A Home and a Feral Family

The family purchased a foreclosure north of Tampa that had been abandoned for at least six months. Renovation took over two years, during which the family encountered several feral cats. The first cat seen was a male named papa, followed by a female tabby on February 16, 2023, who was named Barbie. Three kittens-two tabbies and one black kitten-were also found. Barbie was spayed and all three boy kittens were neutered. The cats were released back into the yard, where insulated shelters were set up for winter and cameras were placed to monitor nighttime activity.

A Pool, a Hurricane, and New Friends

In summer 2023, a pool was constructed and finished by the end of the year. Hurricane Milton later caused flooding, requiring an inflatable boat to reach the back shed. During this period, the cats returned to the yard. The family officially named two of the cats Squatch and Gerald. Squatch has the biggest non-polydactyl paws and enjoys being chased by a soccer ball.
