Spay-neuter Action Project

Spay/Neuter Action Project (SNAP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Huntsville, Alabama, serving Madison County. Founded to reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs in the community, SNAP provides low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for pets belonging to low-income caretakers throughout the county. Since the program began, SNAP has performed over 20,000 spay and neuter surgeries, an effort credited with cutting animal intake at Huntsville Animal Services by roughly half. Alongside its clinic work, SNAP offers guidance for City of Huntsville residents and Madison County residents seeking spay/neuter assistance, and points people outside the county toward other resources across Alabama. The organization also runs a thrift store at 2905 Bob Wallace Avenue, open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with proceeds supporting its mission. SNAP does not operate an on-site adoption shelter; anyone interested in adopting a cat is asked to reach out through the organization's Facebook page. SNAP relies on donations and volunteers to keep its surgical program running, and continues to focus on making responsible pet ownership more accessible for families who might otherwise be unable to afford spay/neuter care.
