A private nonprofit shelter founded in 1963 by community members to help homeless and abused animals. It took the Juneau Animal Rescue name in January 2019, having previously operated as the Gastineau Humane Society. It also holds the local animal control contract and runs a doggy daycare.

Hours Office Mon-Sat 9:30am-5:30pm, closed Sunday. Visiting 1pm-5:30pm with the last visit at 5:15pm. Closed for visits Tuesdays 12pm-3:30pm.
