Kenai Animal Shelter

The City of Kenai's municipal animal shelter on Willow Street, which also provides shelter services for the City of Soldotna and the wider Kenai Peninsula Borough under contract. Every cat leaves spayed or neutered and microchipped, and fees scale with the level of veterinary care each animal needed.

I live in Soldotna. Is this my shelter?

Yes. Since 2019 Soldotna Animal Control has contracted with the City of Kenai, so animals from inside Soldotna city limits come here.

Will my cat already be fixed and microchipped?

Yes. All animals are spayed or neutered and microchipped before they leave the shelter.

Surrendering a cat

Call 907-283-7353 during business hours to schedule a surrender appointment. You will pay a small relinquishment fee, show state-issued ID and fill out a pet personality profile. Emailing photos to animal@kenai.city ahead of the appointment helps make the animal more adoptable.
