The Petersburg Humane Association (PHA) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served the island community of Petersburg, Alaska since organizing in 1999. Since then, PHA volunteers have cared for and found forever homes for more than 400 cats and dogs, while also helping pet owners cover the cost of spay and neuter procedures. The organization's work spans several programs, including sheltering and fostering homeless cats and dogs, spay/neuter scholarships, public education on responsible pet ownership, and fundraising. PHA is governed by a volunteer board of directors serving staggered three-year terms. Adoption fees are $65 for cats and $130 for dogs, and prospective adopters can download and fill out an adoption application in advance to speed up the process. Available pets are posted regularly on PHA's Facebook page, and anyone without Facebook access can call for information about adoptable animals.
Fill out the adoption application and reach out to Petersburg Humane Association at +1 907-518-1091.
