Founded in 2011, Hudson Valley Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (HVARS) is a non-profit animal rescue, wildlife rehabilitation center, and low-cost veterinary clinic based in Poughkeepsie, New York. Operating out of a renovated barn facility, HVARS provides affordable wellness, surgery, and dental services to the community while rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs, cats, and injured native wildlife.
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older. HVARS operates on an approval basis rather than first-come, first-served, and all visits require a scheduled appointment.
Prospective adopters must first submit an adoption application, which takes 1-5 days to process. Once approved, staff will contact the applicant to schedule an appointment to visit the facility and meet adoptable animals.
