Mexipets Animal Rescue is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the welfare of dogs and cats primarily in Maravatío, Michoacán, Mexico. The rescue focuses heavily on low-cost spay and neuter campaigns in rural communities, medical rehabilitation for sick or injured strays, and facilitating adoptions locally and across the United States. Through partnerships with local rescuers and grassroots networks, they have spayed/neutered thousands of animals and rehomed hundreds of pets.
500 pesos for cats / 1,000 pesos for dogs (within Mexico)
Completion of an adoption application in English or Spanish, and agreement to contact the rescue if the adoption is not a good fit rather than surrendering the pet.
Prospective adopters submit an adoption application online (available in English or Spanish). Once approved, animals are prepared with medical checks and transported to adopters either locally in Mexico or via flight escort to destinations such as Northern California.
Mexipets works with local citizens who have litters by offering free or low-cost spaying/neutering, but primary intake focuses on abandoned street animals picked up by local rescuers.
