Paws of Promise is a volunteer-run, foster-based animal rescue based in Hyde Park, Vermont, dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs and cats who have suffered neglect or abandonment. Operating without a physical facility, they place rescued felines into compassionate foster homes throughout Lamoille and Washington counties while preparing them for permanent adoption. Their mission focuses on healing, community education, and making thoughtful, well-matched placements for pets in need.
Kittens (under 1 year): $250; Young adults (1 to 3 years): $175; Adults (3 to 8 years): $100; Seniors (8 years +): $75; Barn Cat: $50 (A 10% discount is offered to people aged 60 and over, Veterans, and Law Enforcement Personnel with proper ID)
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Adopters must bring a hard carrier to the adoption appointment for cats. Paws of Promise matches based on the best fit rather than first-come, first-served.
1. Submit an online adoption application. 2. Application review takes approximately 5–7 days. 3. If approved, an adoption coordinator contacts you to discuss the pet and arrange an adoption appointment. 4. Meet-and-greets may be scheduled when feasible. 5. Finalize the adoption (bring a hard carrier for cats).
Paws of Promise offers pet surrender resources and accepts adoption applications from individuals who have surrendered a pet in the past, provided circumstances have improved and standard adoption requirements are met.
