Happy Tails Happy Homes is a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based animal rescue based in Bellingham, Washington. While primarily focusing on dogs and animals with medical or behavioral challenges, the organization also offers cat adoption services and limited intake for other companion animals. Operating without a physical facility, all rescued pets are cared for in dedicated volunteer foster homes until permanent placement.
Adopters must submit reference and landlord checks confirming pet approval/restrictions, provide photos and/or videos of their home and property for verification, and sign an adoption contract.
Adopters submit an application online, which is forwarded to the pet's foster family for review. If selected as a match, a meet and greet is scheduled (typically 30–60 minutes, often during adoption events). Following reference and landlord checks and home verification, adopters sign a contract and complete payment via ShelterLuv.
Happy Tails Happy Homes accepts surrender inquiries via form/email. Due to being volunteer-run, responses may take a few days, and intake resources for non-dog animals are limited.
