Friends of Strays Animal Shelter is St. Petersburg's oldest no-kill animal shelter, dedicated to rescuing, sheltering, and rehoming companion animals since 1978. They provide dedicated cat adoption services through 'The Cat Box' adoption center, along with comprehensive foster care and community cat initiatives like the MEOW Now TNVR program. Serving the St. Petersburg and greater Pinellas County area, the organization focuses on lifesaving programs, humane education, and pet retention.
Kittens (under 1 year): $90 for one, $120 for a pair; Cats (1 year and older): $60 for one, $80 for a pair
Adopters must be at least 18 years old with a government-issued photo ID. Cats will not be adopted to homes intending to declaw or allow them to be indoor/outdoor pets. Cats must leave the facility in an approved carrier, and pets must travel home in an enclosed, private, climate-controlled vehicle.
Adoptions are conducted in person on a first-come basis at The Cat Box Adoption Center. Prospective adopters can submit an adoption inquiry ahead of time to save time on paperwork or to arrange a meet-and-greet if the cat is currently housed in a foster home.
