Orphan Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (OARS) is a volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) nonprofit no-kill cat rescue based in Neenah, Wisconsin, serving the Fox Valley and Fox Cities communities. Founded in 2008, the organization provides homeless felines with medical care and a cage-free, home-like environment across foster homes and its adoption center until they are matched with forever families. OARS primarily transfers at-risk cats from other rescues and shelters to help alleviate regional overcrowding.
Adoption fee is considered a nonrefundable donation to Orphan Animal Rescue
Adopters must be 21 years of age or older. If renting, adopters must provide a landlord's contact info along with a copy of the lease/addendum permitting cats. Current and previous pets from the past 10 years must be verified with a veterinarian as altered (spayed/neutered) and up to date on vaccinations. Adopters must provide two non-related references, agree to annual veterinary care, and bring a secure cat carrier at pickup. Preference is given to adopters in the Fox Valley.
Adopters can browse cats via Petfinder and submit an online Cat Adoption Application. OARS conducts vet checks and checks two personal references, followed by an in-person meeting at their cage-free Adoption Center and a compatibility interview. Applications are evaluated for best fit rather than on a first-come, first-served basis, and same-day adoptions are not conducted.
OARS is unable to accept strays, surrenders, or found pets from the general public. They only take in surrenders originally adopted from OARS or transfers from other rescue groups and humane organizations when capacity allows. Anyone finding a stray pet is advised to contact their local animal control.
