Black Cats Saved in 2026: Stories of Care and Recovery

On National Black Cat Day, Alley Cat Allies highlighted several rescue stories from 2026.
Neo, a cat with a severe facial wound, received lifesaving surgery and ongoing care, allowing him to live comfortably with other cats.
During a Trap-Neuter-Return clinic in Granite Shoals, Texas, three neonatal kittens were found cold and suffering from upper respiratory infections. Veterinary care was already on site five minutes away, and the kittens were warmed, fed, and examined. All three are now healing well and healthy aside from their infections, and the wet food brought to the clinic is now in caregivers’ hands to support more community cats.
Felix was rescued and treated, and supporters chose his name, which means happy, fortunate, and lucky. His recovery has brought him a playful, camera-loving personality.
Reno arrived with a badly infected wound on his lower abdomen and backside. After intensive veterinary treatment, he recovered and now greets visitors at the clinic.
Alley Cat Allies also secured an agreement with the National Park Service to protect cats from lethal removal and celebrated Sabrina, a spry senior cat.
Since 1990, the organization has led efforts to protect all cats, and today over 1.8 million supporters join its mission worldwide.
