Global Cat Day 2026: Community Cats Get Care Across the U.S.

On October 16, 2026, Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day sparked a wave of volunteer-led care for community cats across the United States. In Granite Shoals, Texas, Alley Cat Allies partnered with the Hill Country Humane Society to run a free Trap-Neuter-Return clinic. The organization covered all surgeries, vaccinations and other needed care, and supplied nutritious wet food for local caregivers. Three kittens with upper respiratory infections were treated on the mobile clinic, receiving warmth, food and eye cleaning.
In Maryland, Alley Cat Allies funded spay, neuter, microchipping and vaccination for cats during Global Cat Day week in collaboration with A Cat’s Life Rescue, and stocked the group’s food bank with wet cat food. Puerto Rico saw the team provide daily care and veterinary services to cats Llorin and Gizmo, and celebrated a victory that prevented a lethal National Park Service plan from killing community cats.
The organization also supported no-cost cat food distribution in Richmond, Virginia with the Richmond SPCA, reached cats across Atlantic County, New Jersey with daily food, medical care and TNR, and covered TNR costs while expanding education in Tempe, Arizona.
Alley Cat Allies has defended community cats in Puerto Rico for years and has led the movement to protect all cats since 1990. Today, more than 1.8 million supporters join the mission.
