Tiger was rescued on 2 June 2025 after an accident that required amputation of his right hind leg. Before surgery he was diagnosed with Stage B2 hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a subclinical heart disease with a high risk of progression. The family first saw a general practice vet in Singapore, who focused on kidney function and reassured that the heart was unchanged. In late December 2025 the owners requested an echocardiogram, which was performed on 14 February 2026. The scan revealed that Tiger’s heart had progressed to congestive heart failure. A thoracentesis was performed two days later to remove fluid from around his lungs, and he was discharged with furosemide and clopidogrel. Despite the medication, fluid re-accumulated and his breathing became laboured again. On 25 March 2026 he had a severe episode of congestive heart failure, was taken to Beecroft Hospital, had another thoracentesis, and was placed in an oxygen chamber. The owners were told the prescribed dosage was insufficient. Tiger was admitted to the emergency room every week for a total of four visits. After a brief period of normal breathing post-discharge, he returned with laboured breathing within a week. He passed away on 24 August 2026, witnessed by his sister, and was cremated privately. His ashes are stored at Mandai Pet Sanctuary in Singapore.
