Plain City, OH
Canaan Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer animal rescue based in Plain City, Ohio, dedicated to saving homeless, abused, and unwanted pets. The organization offers rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and foster programs for cats and dogs, and partners with the Columbus Humane Society's Community Cats Initiative to support feral cat trap-neuter-return (TNR).
Applicants must agree to keep the pet strictly indoors, provide regular veterinary healthcare, allow a representative of CAS to conduct a scheduled home visit, obtain landlord approval if renting, ensure existing pets are up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered, provide three non-relative personal references known for at least 2 years, and agree to return the animal to CAS if they can no longer keep it.
Prospective adopters must submit an online adoption application and allow up to 48 hours for a representative to review and respond. The screening process includes verification of personal references, landlord approval (if renting), and veterinary history check, along with a required home visit by appointment.
Adopters must sign an agreement stating they will contact and return the pet immediately to Canaan Animal Sanctuary if they can no longer keep it.
