FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are cats adopted from To The Rescue allowed to go outside or be declawed?

No. Under the rescue's adoption contract, adopted pets must live indoors only, and cats must under no circumstances be declawed.

What medical care is provided to animals prior to adoption?

Routine vetting administered by rescue volunteers and foster homes includes deworming and age-appropriate vaccinations (such as FVRCP for cats and DHLPP for dogs). Animals over six months are spayed/neutered, and adopters agree to spay/neuter any pet under six months once they reach age.

What happens if an adoption application is approved?

Because the rescue relies on foster homes and needs open space to pull animals from high-kill shelters, approved applicants must be prepared to pick up their new pet as soon as possible (same day or next day).

What happens if an adopter can no longer keep their pet?

Adopters must agree to first contact To The Rescue, Inc. via email and provide a minimum of two weeks for the rescue to respond and reclaim the pet at no charge, rather than giving the pet away or surrendering it to a shelter.
