FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Has this organization changed its name?

Yes. In July 2026 the Alaska SPCA became Alaska PAWS, short for Alaska Partners for Animal Welfare and Safety. Same organization, same adoption center, same staff.

Are you connected to the national ASPCA?

No, and never have been. The similar name caused enough confusion over the years that it was one reason behind the 2026 rebrand.

How much does it cost to adopt a cat?

Kittens under 6 months are $250, cats from 6 months to 7 years are $225, and cats 7 years and older are $100.
