Anchorage, AK
Mojo's Hope is a cat and dog rescue in Anchorage, Alaska that focuses on companion animals with special needs, whether behavioral, emotional, physical, or medical. The organization is named for Mojo, a Malamute rescued from dire conditions near Homer in 2009 who initially struggled with fear and a physical impairment in his back legs before becoming the inspiration for the rescue's mission. Mojo's Hope provides rehabilitation support so animals can eventually move to loving adoptive homes when possible, and offers lifetime care, including PAWSpice (end-of-life care), for animals with ongoing medical needs. Services include foster and permanent foster placement, spay/neuter, vaccination and medical care, behavior support for cats and dogs, and pet loss and bereavement counseling. One of the rescue's cats, HarPURR, has gone on to start his own nonprofit focused on compassion and community outreach. The adoption fee for cats is $120.
